Trash and Recycling Policies

Villa D’Este Village HOA contracted with Patriot Disposal to provide trash and recycling services for your home.  Service is scheduled to begin on April 2, 2021.  Below is a description of our service and an overview of some of our policies we think you will find helpful in getting the most out of your waste disposal services.  Patriot is a locally owned and operated company.  We strive to provide a higher level of service and responsiveness than the publicly-traded behemoths that have come to dominate our industry.  Everyone here at Patriot welcomes you and hopes we are able at all times to exceed your expectations.

SERVICE DAYS

Trash Collection:

Tuesdays and Fridays

Recycling and Yard Waste (in season):

Wednesdays

Directions:

Please place all items in your containers and place those containers at the curb the night before collection day or by 5:00 a.m. on your collection day.

During the off-season, yard waste may be mixed in with the trash.  We will communicate the exact dates of yard waste season through your community manager – it is typically approximately April 1st through December 24th.  During yard waste collection season, yard waste must be placed in biodegradable paper bags or in containers clearly labeled “Yard Waste.”

Yard waste MAY NOT be placed in plastic bags and plastic must not be mixed in with yard waste.

CONTAINERS
You may continue to use the containers (or replacements therefor) you have previously used for trash and recycling.

COMPANY POLICY
All trash must be placed at the curb in front of your home in a trash or recycling container or securely tied bag. The following items should NOT be placed in containers or bags at any time: rocks, concrete, dirt, soil, sod, tree stumps, construction debris, brick, or landscaping timbers.  Collection of these items may be provided for an additional charge.

Recyclable materials will be collected weekly on Wednesdays. Recyclable materials include newspapers, magazines, catalogs, books, mixed paper, cereal boxes and similar, flattened cardboard no larger than 4’ x 4’, aluminum and metal food and beverage containers, and plastic bottles, jugs and containers.  The recycling method is “single-stream” which allows for the co-mingling of all recyclable materials in the recycling container. PLEASE DO NOT PLACE RECYCLING IN ANY PLASTIC BAGS OF ANY KIND.

YARD WASTE
Yard Waste will be collected on Wednesdays from approximately April 1st – December 24th. Grass clippings and leaves must be set out for pickup in bio-degradable paper bags or in a trash container clearly marked “yard waste” on both sides.  Tree limbs and brush must be tied in bundles no longer than 4 feet in length and 6 inches in diameter.  Bundles or items that are bagged cannot exceed 50 pounds.  Yard waste does not include stumps, rocks, dirt, sod, gravel, mulch, whole trees, or clean-up from storm damage.  Collection of these items may be provided for an additional charge.  Dates are subject to change but the HOA will receive notice prior to any changes.

SPECIAL ITEMS
Certain bulk items such as mattresses, sofas, disassembled bed frames and similar items will be collected without charge, but such pick-ups must be scheduled by calling our customer service department at 703-257-7100 because these pick-ups are not made by your regular collection truck.  Special items such as white goods (appliances), scrap metal (grills, bicycles, swings, chairs), small electronics (computers, monitors, small TVs, small printers, VCRs, DVD/CD players, etc.), motor oil, tires and car batteries will be collected for an additional fee to be paid by the homeowner requesting such pick-up.   As with regular bulk pick-up, advance notice is required for the collection of all special items    Please call 703-257-7100 to schedule a bulk or special pickup.

HOLIDAYS
Service will be provided on all holidays except for Thanksgiving Day, Independence Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.  When a designated collection day falls on one of these holidays, service will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day.  Notwithstanding the foregoing, if the Prince William County landfill is closed on another day for any reason, we will not be able to provide service and service will resume on your next scheduled collection day.
